The Disney Travel Company was looking for an eLearning development tool for instructors to create and present high-end, high-impact training presentations to their travel agents. They needed a flexible application that would allow them to create custom presentations for potential clients. It also needed to contain 6 to 8 hours of existing video material, as well as pre-built slideshows. And it needed to provide the capability to insert custom slides. Digitec worked with Convergence to develop a solution to fit all of these requirements.
Digitec programmers developed a robust, database driven application using Knowledge Direct ® CD and Macromedia Director. The application enabled the travel agents to easily create custom presentations by simply following the on- screen steps. They could add video segments, pre-built slide shows, or create their own slides. At any time, the user could edit their presentation during the build process. Once the presentation was built, the user could save the presentation and the back-end database would track the content of the presentation, as well as other saved presentations. The user could also access interactive maps and 360 degree panoramas throughout the presentation.
The video was encoded in the MPEG-2 format for optimal quality and playback. And the application also featured the ability to update presentations over the web, as new content became available.
