Valencia
Community College has over 3500 students enrolled. These students
use a Campus Pipeline portal to access their Distance Learning
courses, register, etc. This highly complex IT environment uses
the Banner Student Information System and Campus Pipeline to
provide portal access and serve up the appropriate student content.
Digitec integrated Knowledge Direct™ WEB
into this enterprise to provide financial education courseware
and CLAST Test preparation for the college students. The
financial education modules were created from existing courseware
Digitec developed for InCharge Institute of America. This
courseware won the Brandon-Hall Excellence in Elearning
award in 2002. The modules are served up, based on the student
profile, using single sign-on. The pre-testing, post-testing,
and survey data were tied to the student record and were
available to the financial aid department on campus.
VCC also uses Knowledge Direct WEB to provide CLAST
preparation for their students. The faculty creates the highly
interactive instruction using Microsoft PowerPoint, then ports
the modules to the students using Knowledge Direct
WEB.
