NACUFS eLearning Design and Development
One way that associations serve their membership is by offering continuing education programs. Increasingly, associations are turning to eLearning to provide a flexible way to assist their members in keeping up with their industry and the latest trends.
The National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) chose Digitec to partner with them in creating their first eLearning course for their membership of more than 1000 institutions and food service companies.
"It was critical that NACUFS' first online course have relevant and engaging content, and that it be delivered in a way that's easy for our members to access," said Ellen Behrens, NACUFS Education Director.
Digitec responded by designing a highly interactive, scenario-based Flash eLearning course delivered through Digitec's Knowledge Direct® learning management system. Learners take on the role of a dining services team leader as they discover the factors to consider in choosing the right meal plan for their campus.
Digitec designed the eLearning course with extensive use of case studies, interactive spreadsheets, and other engaging activities to provide opportunities for practical application and enable learners to self-check their understanding of the material.
"Feedback from our members shows not just two thumbs up, but dozens!" said Ms. Behrens, "And because Knowledge Direct is so user-friendly and reliable, we haven't had to devote staff time to addressing problems with the system, so we can spend our time on marketing instead. We expected the momentum of registrations to drop after the first few months, but registrations continue to come in as word of the course continues to spread."
