LRP Publications eLearning Portal
LRP Publications, Inc. is the publisher for Human Resource Executive magazine and Risk and Insurance magazine, as well as more than 120 newsletters in the fields of human resources, workers compensation, education administration, law and higher education.
In 2004, LRP wanted to broaden their outreach to the education and federal government sectors by creating eLearning courses. As a publisher, LRP had an existing inventory of content in Microsoft® PowerPoint® and Word® and Adobe® Acrobat® documents. They wanted a simple way to convert this content to eLearning, and offer the new products through their existing eCommerce shopping cart.
LRP turned to Digitec and Knowledge Direct®—an easy-to-use, turn-key rapid eLearning authoring, delivery and management system—that enables their internal staff to create interactive eLearning modules from their existing content. LRP uses the Knowledge Direct private-labeling feature to offer specific courses to each of their primary sectors: the DirectStep® eLearning site for their educational clients and the CyberFeds® eLearning site for their government clients.
Knowledge Direct integrates with LRP’s existing shopping cart. In addition to selling individual courses, LRP uses the Knowledge Direct administrative feature for bulk purchases. LRP sells multiple course licenses to clients, generating unique access codes to unlock specific courses to registered learners. This flexible eLearning distribution model allows LRP to continually offer new courses to registered users, adding these courses to a learner's training menu.
To date, LRP has sold nearly 2,800 course seats. The in-house staff produces the courses using Direct-to-WEB, Digitec's rapid eLearning authoring tool that converts PowerPoint files to Flash.
